Earlier this month, the new Portuguese Competition Act came into force. The new Competition Act marks a new era for competition enforcement and advocacy in Portugal with reinforced investigative powers for the Portuguese Competition Authority (PCA), a renewed Leniency Programme, greater harmonisation between Portuguese merger control and the EU Merger Regulation and a new framework for market studies and sector enquiries.
