Earlier this month, the new Portuguese Competition Act came into force. The new Competition Act marks a new era for competition enforcement and advocacy in Portugal with reinforced investigative powers for the Portuguese Competition Authority (PCA), a renewed Leniency Programme, greater harmonisation between Portuguese merger control and the EU Merger Regulation and a new framework for market studies and sector enquiries. The PCA has launched three public consultations related to the new law. More information on the new law is available here (in Portuguese).
