A warm welcome from the ICN to the new leadership of two ICN members.

Earlier this year, Vice President of the European Commission Joaquín Almunia assumed his post as the European Commissioner for Competition. For more information about Commissioner Almunia, including his vision for competition policy, please click here.

On February 18, Dr. Alexander Italianer became Director-General for Competition at the European Commission. Prior to his current position, Italianer was Deputy Secretary General in charge of the Better Regulation Agenda and Chairman of the Impact Assessment Board from 2006. In January, Prof. Tresna P. Soemardi and Dr. AM. Tri Anggraini were elected as the new Chairman and Vice Chairman, respectively, of the Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) in Indonesia. For more information, click here.

Prof. Tresna is a leading professor at the University of Indonesia, specializing in Innovation and Strategic Management. Tresna graduated from Mechanical Technique on the Bandung Institute of Technology and received his doctoral decree from the Ecole Centrale de Paris, France in 1990. Healso holds a bachelors degree in Financial Management and Environmental Study from the University of Indonesia.

Dr. Tri Anggraini is also a lecturer for the Post Graduate Program of the University of Indonesia, the University of Krisnadwipayana, and the University of Trisakti. She has researched and published on various topics in economic law, including specifically on competition law. Tri Anggraini holds a bachelors degree in law from the University of Gadjah Mada, a masters in law from the University of Tarumanegara, and a doctorate in economic law from the University of Indonesia.
