Once again on 5th December (2012), World Competition Day (WCD) was celebrated based on a theme ‘Adverse Impact of Cartels on the Poor’, in an attempt to raise public understanding and awareness regarding the adverse impact of Cartels on the poor.

Among the various countries, Afghanistan also supported the initiative. Dr. Sadrudin Sahar, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Commerce and Industries spoke about the benefits of competition in an event organised by the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Directorate (CPCPD), Afghanistan, In addition to that Philippines declared December 5 as ‘National Competition Day’ to lend support to the initiative for adoption of WCD.
